Editorial Intern

Wise Publishing is looking for a talented and motivated editorial intern for our Toronto office. In this role, you will participate in the production of editorial content for MoneyWise.com and MoneyWise.ca. Candidates should have a passionate interest in the digital publishing industry.

This role is for a fixed term summer internship and reports to the Associate Editor.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Finalizing articles for publication — adding images, sourcing and fact-checking
  • Contributing original features
  • New article ideation based on critical analysis
  • Meeting deadlines and achieving quick turnarounds

Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Expert communication skills in English
  • Experience in writing, either professional or creative
  • Research skills
  • A proven team player who is both flexible and highly adaptable
  • Detail oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • University or college study or a degree or diploma in journalism or communications or a related field of study is considered an asset

Marketing Intern

Wise Publishing is looking for a talented and motivated marketing intern for our Toronto office. In this role, you will participate in marketing editorial content from MoneyWise.com and MoneyWise.ca on digital advertising platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Taboola.

This role is for a fixed term summer internship and reports to the Senior Marketing Manager.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Applying a creative eye to selecting and editing creative assets for the marketing of editorial content on social media
  • Launching and managing creative advertisements across multiple digital advertising platforms
  • Reviewing advertising performance data in real-time
  • Applying insights from analytics to improve advertising performance
  • Optimizing advertising bids and budgets to meet objectives
  • Reviewing performance data to propose new content and changes to existing content

Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Expert communication skills in English
  • Beginner-level experience with photo manipulation (i.e. Photoshop, Gimp, etc.)
  • Beginner-level understanding of paid social media marketing
  • Demonstrable willingness to learn, collaborate and develop new skills
  • Prior social media marketing experience is considered an asset
  • University or college study or a degree or diploma in marketing, advertising or communications or a related field of study preferred

Front-end Developer Intern

Wise Publishing is looking for a talented and motivated front-end developer intern for our Toronto office. In this role, you will participate in the production of front-end code for MoneyWise.com and MoneyWise.ca.

This role is for a fixed term summer internship and reports to the CTO.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Designing and developing new UI components
  • Auditing existing HTML, JS and CSS and optimizing for speed and scalability
  • Maintaining brand consistency throughout design

Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Understanding of key design principles
  • CSS and CSS preprocessing (Sass)
  • Responsive design, mobile-first builds
  • Native JavaScript as well as popular frameworks
  • Clean, semantic HTML5 structures
  • Node-based compilation tools such as Webpack
  • Distributed version-control experience with Git
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience navigating a Laravel (PHP) application structure in order to work with blade templates and resources is an asset

Wise Publishing is looking for a talented and motivated back-end PHP developer intern for our Toronto office. In this role, you will participate in the production of back-end code for MoneyWise.com and MoneyWise.ca.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Developing clean, quick, scalable and robust web software
  • Testing, troubleshooting and resolving bugs and performance issues
  • Collaborating with other developers in a fast-paced team environment
  • Maintaining intelligible and complete documentation

Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • High-level proficiency with PHP, MySQL & JavaScript
  • Experience with external integrations/API development (REST, JSON)
  • Experience with Linux-based command line
  • Distributed version-control experience with Git
  • Strong communication skills

Account Management Intern

Wise Publishing is looking for a talented and motivated account management intern for our Toronto office. In this role, you will assist the Vice President of Revenue Operations in all aspects of client management including customer relationship management, resolving client issues, pulling and analyzing reports and relaying relevant information to the editorial and marketing departments.

This role is for a fixed term summer internship and reports to the Vice President of Revenue Operations.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Maintaining Wise Publishing’s CRM
  • Responding to client issues by email and phone
  • Reaching out to clients on behalf of other departments at Wise Publishing to resolve issues with client reporting, contracts and billing
  • Onboarding new affiliates

Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and project management skills
  • Ability to work and complete projects independently, as well as within a team environment
  • Capable of learning Wise Publishing sales and company information systems

Wise Publishing is looking for a motivated and talented digital marketer for our Toronto office.

In this role, you will be a critical player in the marketing of editorial content from MoneyWise.com and MoneyWise.ca on digital advertising platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Taboola. This is a data-driven position that is perfect for somebody who is meticulous, creative and dedicated.

This role is full-time and reports to the Senior Marketing Manager.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Launching and maintaining creative advertisements across multiple digital advertising platforms
  • Reviewing performance data in real-time
  • Applying insights from analytics to improve advertising creative performance
  • Optimizing advertising bids and budgets to meet objectives
  • Reviewing performance data to propose new content and changes to existing content
  • Applying knowledge of industry best practices
  • Proactively identifying challenges and possible solutions
  • Building custom audiences against third-party marketing pixels

Skill and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Expert communication skills in English
  • Working knowledge of the Wise Publishing business model
  • Working knowledge of performance marketing strategies
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics
  • Working knowledge of photo manipulation software
  • Agency experience is considered an asset
